RAM price data from July 2024 to November 2025 shows a consistent and significant upward trend. Throughout this period, global memory market charts indicate month-to-month price increases, mainly because chip manufacturers have shifted production capacity away from consumer DRAM toward higher-margin products like High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). As a result, the availability of RAM for PCs and laptops has decreased, pushing prices higher across the board.
The rapid growth of AI technology is the primary driver behind this shift. Modern AI models—especially large language models and GPU-based training systems in data centers—require massive amounts of high-bandwidth memory. The huge demand from cloud providers and the broader AI industry has led manufacturers to prioritize supplying memory for AI servers instead of consumer markets. This has tightened the supply of regular DRAM, causing prices to rise continuously for more than a year, from 2024 through late 2025.
This situation has made building or upgrading PCs significantly more expensive during the July 2024–November 2025 period. As long as chip factories continue prioritizing AI demands and global production capacity has not stabilized, RAM prices are expected to remain high. For PC users, the best strategy is to choose the right timing for purchases or adjust hardware specifications to minimize the long-term impact of rising memory costs.
